  • Fourth blog

It's past 430 am and I am pretty wide awake. Since I have already posted on my food blog, my house blog, and my personal finance blog, as well as exhausted all the fun I could find on my iPhone (no one is updating Facebook, I keep killing the computer at Scrabble, and looked for china cabinets on Craigslist), I decided I should slowly peck away on dear old Xanga. Wait, nevermind, after so many characters I can no longer see what I am typing...guess I'll just go back to making lists on my iPhone Notes app.

  • a list

-All of a sudden, I'm serious about getting an iPhone. I'm going to start taking my lunch to work and will probably get one by early July.

-I want to blog again. Not really on Xanga (ironically), but on my food blog, my personal finance blog, and my home blog. Maybe I'll do that soon.

-This pregnancy is flying by! I just started the third trimester and with our calendar filling up with lots of stuff, I just know time will keep flying. This is good, because I'm so dang excited to have a little daughter.

-I made dinner for Mark last night. I honestly cannot remember the last time I did that. It has been MONTHS. Granted, he's the better cook, and currently not working, so it makes sense that he does our cooking. But it did feel really nice to make him dinner, even if it was just spaghetti.

-We've started to mentally plan out our future vacations. Spring 2011: Visit Colin in D.C. and take along a grandmother to help with the baby. Summer 2012: Missouri for Colin's ordination, and will turn that into something bigger...like hit up St Louis or Chicago, too. Or Branson?? Fall 2013:  Disney World and Universal (for Harry Potter!). 2014: Some beach resort. I should plan so I'm not pregnant or breastfeeding so I can enjoy margaritas on the beach. January 2015: Europe! Visit the nuns again in Assisi and the priests in Rome, but also see Florence, Venice and Tuscany. Maybe travel outside of Italy too?

-It's so frustrating to not know when/if Mark is getting hired back. We really, really hope that he can get back to work July 1st. If not, life as we have planned it will be a lot different. I want him to have the job he loves, and I want us to be able to live in the city I love. Well, I'm not sure I love Tulsa, but I definitely love our house and being so close to lots of family.

  • Why I don't Twitter

Because, instead, I can post short, random thoughts on Xanga, which then posts to Facebook. It lets me feel like I'm being heard, but it doesn't force anyone to read about how I eat too many Lean Pockets.

    • I eat too many Lean Pockets.
    • The alarm to our house officially works. Not sure if I should blame the husband or the dog, but it gave me an earful when I got home from work.
    • I'm working the next four days at a store 1.5 hours from my house. Sometimes (okay, all the times) floating isn't that fun.
    • Our king mattress set will be delivered tomorrow, but I'm making Mark wait until I get home on Sunday night to sleep on it.
    • It's okay, though, because I'm the best wife in the world. This is true because last night at one a.m., I said "Hey, let's go to McDonalds". And we did.
    • Watching "Angels and Demons" made me very excited about our upcoming trip to Rome. (Which, if you haven't looked at it, check out the email in my newest photo album on Facebook.)
    • Our friend Colin is coming to visit very soon and that makes me happy. I can't wait to plan a trip to visit him in DC.
    • My favorite part of "Six Feet Under" is seeing how the person dies at the beginning. The episode I'm watching now had a doozie of a death.
    • I had this issue with a bump on my head, but now it's pretty much resolved. It's hilarious how happy I am when I touch my head and it's flat (well, as flat as a head should be)!
    • I love looking at furniture on Craigslist. Especially when a "unique couch and loveseat" are priced at $1500.
    • Mark and I have talked about becoming a one-car family. (Two, if you count his patrol car.) Yet...I never take the time to learn how to drive his standard Toyota. Hrrrrm.

  • House

Mark and I are signing a contract for a house tomorrow. It's a huge purchase for such young folks, but I feel really good about it. Hopefully all the inspections go well, and we'll be happy home owners in about a month.

(This isn't the house I made the pro/con list about earlier. Funny how quickly things change.)

  • May we move along?

I know I'm too young to wish time would go by faster, but I'm ready for June 1st. Mostly because I'm ready for a new budget and bigger paychecks. Sounds greedy, I know, but I'm also hoping our spending is about half of what it was this month. There were some expensive, but necessary things that happened in May, so our savings won't be as high as I hoped. Next month, life should be calmer and more predictable.

Mark and I are looking at houses again, this time a bit more seriously. We're not really in a rush (except for the Dec 1st deadline for the tax credit), but we've found a house that we really like. Here's a list we made:

    Pros
Layout (we love the living area, kitchen, dining space)
    Barn (it's huge!)
    Potential to upgrade (bathrooms, fixtures)
Size (not too big, not too small)
    Storm Shelter
    Neighborhood
    Security System
Landscaping (fantastic backyard complete with covered patio)
    1 year warranty
    Newer roof
    New windows
    Location (to highways, stores, etc)

    Cons
Cracks (it might need some piering)
"One car" garage (due to the fact the storm shelter takes up one spot)
    Small master bath
    Schools (?)
Electric Stove (may be able to switch to gas)
No washer/dryer/fridge (that's a lot of moolah right off)
    Needs New carpet/paint
    Wiring (needs updating)
Small spare rooms (fine by us, but may hurt in resale)

When I put it all down into lists, it sure seems like we should maybe move forward. We'll see...we're gonna think on it for a bit longer.

Well, I've got to get ready for the day. We're meeting my family at a park for my brother-in-law's birthday. Apparently his idea of celebrating is to go for a run. ;) Should be fun!
